TV-b-Gone “Nokia”

My pocket weapon against our stupid media culture. Die Die Die. This is the classic TV-b-gone kit by Cornfield Electronics, hacked into an old Nokia cellphone.

I’ve found its 100-foot range effective in the grocery store, bars, Wal-Mart, etc. From my point of view, there’s no reason to have a television on in public. Or at home for that matter. The other day, I was at a bar with a friend. We were sitting by ourselves in the corner chatting. No other bar patrons were in this area. I prefer empty bars, so it was great except for a nearby TV that kept distracting us. I busted out my TV-B-Gone and gave it a shot. Somehow this TV wouldn’t respond. It kept distracting us and I tried again to zap it with no luck. So I got up, walked over, and shut it off the old fashioned way with my index finger. No sooner had I done that, a bar staffer steps to me and says “We don’t do that.” as he turned it back on. Bah. So on the way out, I shut off the big plasma screen over their main bar. “Yes we do”, my friend.
